Nathaniel Gonzalez and Brenda G. Nieves attended the O'Reilly Open Source Convention O'Reilly Open Source Convention in Portland, Oregon on July 26-30.

Nathaniel Gonzalez and Brenda G. Nieves attended the O'Reilly Open Source Convention O'Reilly Open Source Convention in Portland, Oregon on July 26-30. They particpated in tutorials the first two days on topics such as Plone, Python, and PHP. During the last three days, they were able to attend presentations by organizations and companies on the best use of open souce resources.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for them to update their skills in the use of open source resources for improving server performance; tools and languages for the web-programming; security tools, and development of distributed scientific applications. They also learned about new trends in open source, and came back full of ideas to be the implemented in current and future projects.
