CIAR is involved in projects and initiatives related to high bandwidth digital video (5 - 30 Mbps). One of these projects consists in webcasting live or archived videos of the RCMI Seminar Series using multicast technology (VideoLan). A list of current webcasts is available at the Internet2 Digital Video Guide

In order to watch the seminars,you need the following:

  1. A multicast-enabled network (Contact your IT manager to find out)
  2. Download the VideoLan software from http://videolan.org and install it.
  3. Run the software and go to File, then to Open Network Stream
  4. Go to UDP/RTP Multicastand enter the appropriate IP and port, then click OK

The IP for archived seminars is 233.154.22.6 port 1234. For live seminars, use 233.22.154.5 port 1234.

We are also exploring technologies such as DVTS.
